5 Months Old!

I can't believe how fast the time flies!  The last 5 months have been the best months of my life thanks to my sweet baby Adilynne.  She learns more and more each day and is getting to be so fun.
  • She is getting good at rolling over from her tummy to her back on her own.
  • She is getting pretty close to being able to roll over from her back to her tummy.
  • She likes to smile and laugh at mom and dad.
  • She has been eating rice cereal in the mornings for the last month and seems to really like it.
Enjoy the pictures!
She has been sticking her legs up straight in the air for the past week.  She's going to have some strong abs!  I need to start doing leg lifts with her.
Such a sweet girl.
She figured out how to grab her toes about 2 weeks ago.  She is still trying to get them in her mouth.

Trying to get those toes.
Play time
She is getting really good at grabbing things and getting them where she wants them.  Her motor skills have improved a ton since last month.
Christmas Time
She is ready to open her Christmas gifts!
First visit to Santa.  She did great!

Rocking Adilynne to Sleep

I want to remember all the little things about Adilynne that I can while she is growing up.  Last night I had a moment with her that I want to remember.  At 2:40 am I woke up to her crying and talking to herself.  I stayed in bed for a few minutes to see if she would go back to sleep on her own but it wasn't happening.  I got up to check on her and when I walked into her room she got all excited and gave me a big smile.  I found that she had wiggled out of her blankets and was probably cold.  I wrapped her back up, gave her the binkie and a kiss and went back to bed, hoping that she would fall asleep.  Fifteen minutes later, right as I was starting to fall back asleep she started crying again.  I went into her room and she had gotten one of her arms out of her blankets again.  I covered her with the blankets and gave her the binkie then got back in bed.  Fifteen minutes later she was crying again.  She had wiggled out of her blankets again and I decided that she wasn't going to go back to sleep on her own.
To preface all this, last night I had Young Women's.  I put Adilynne down for a nap about 4:30 pm and told David to wake her up about 6:00 to feed her.  David ended up falling asleep on the couch and didn't wake up until 7:00 and had a hard time waking Adilynne up to feed her.  She wanted to be out for the night.  So because of her long late nap she was wide awake at 3:30 in the morning.  I haven't had to get up in the middle of the night with her for almost 3 months!  I told David that the person that let her nap too late should be the one getting up now to take care of her.  He just grunted and rolled over.
I changed her diaper then wrapped her up in the blankets and decided I would probably only get her back to sleep by rocking her.  I grabbed my Kindle and headed out to the family room to rock her.  I was planning on reading while I rocked her hoping that the time would go by quicker while she fell back to sleep.  I was really annoyed that I was the one up in the middle of the night with her when David was the one that let her sleep too long in the evening.  After a few minutes of reading and having her be wide awake I decided to put a Jim Brickman Christmas CD hoping the music would calm Adilynne down faster so I could get back to bed.  I sat back down and continued reading and all the sudden I thought to myself, "What are you doing?  Enjoy this time that you have to hold and rock Adilynne back to sleep!"  I always hear parents of older children saying they wished they would have spent more time holding their children while they were young and I don't want to have that regret someday.  I put down my Kindle and watched Adilynne look so intently at me with those big loving eyes.  I soon became grateful instead of annoyed for the chance that I had to rock her and comfort her at 4:00 am.  I enjoyed the Christmas music playing in the background as I watched Adilynne's eyes getting heavy and as she eventually gave in to sleep.  Once I was sure she was in a deep sleep I took her back into her crib and went back to bed myself.
Even though I had to be up in the middle of the night I was very grateful for the chance that I had to hold her and love her.  I am so grateful to be her mom and be able to stay home with her daily.  My love for her grows daily.

David's Graduation

On Friday December 14, 2012 David graduated from Weber State University with a Bachelors Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology.  It was a great day that we have been looking forward to for a long time.  The graduation ceremony was really long but good and Adilynne was awesome the whole time.

4 Months Old

Our baby girl is 4 months old today.  I can't believe how fast the time has gone.  It seems like just yesterday that we were in the hospital holding our baby for the first time.  She has grown and learned so much in the last 4 months. We love her more and more each day.
 She found her fingers!
She was more interested in what was behind her than looking at the camera.
 Look at that cute face!
 She was done with pictures!
I love seeing her after her naps.  She makes the funniest faces.
 Happy Girl!
She has started sticking the tip of her tongue out and to the side of her mouth.
Clean Baby!  She loves her baths.  She loves to splash in the water and she makes herself laugh almost every night while in the tub.
Asleep in dad's arms after her bedtime bottle.

She has been sleeping through the night since she was 6 weeks old.  She usually sleeps 11-12 hours a night but last night she set a new record.  She went to bed at 9:00 pm and didn't wake up until 9:50 am!  Almost 13 hours of sleep.  How would it be?  When she woke up I fed her breakfast, got her ready for the day and took her pictures.  By 11:00 am she was fussy and tired again so I put her down for a nap and she slept for another hour and fifteen minutes!
This girl is like a clock.  She knows exactly when her three hours between feedings is up and she is ready to eat again.  She also knows exactly when it is her nap time and she will let you know that she wants to be in her crib to sleep.
She is getting better at rolling over from her tummy to her back.  She doesn't understand the purpose of it yet so she still doesn't do it very often.  By next month she'll probably understand that she can get places by rolling around.
I can't wait to see what new things she learns in the upcoming month.

Pictures

Adilynne loves the jumper.  She isn't quite strong enough yet to bounce but she loves to twirl around on her toes.
The other night when I was feeding her the bedtime bottle she got her hands in a funny position and was holding the bottle all by herself.  I love the hand holding the bottle up from the bottom.
Such a happy baby!  I think this is one of the first pictures I have of her smiling.  Usually when I get the camera out she stops whatever she was doing.  I love that cute grin!

Adilynne laughed for the first time last Saturday night.  I need to download the video from David's phone.  I love hearing her cute giggles.  It is so fun to watch her everyday and see her figure new things out.  She is growing up way too fast but I love being a part of it.

Halloween

 What a cute little duck!
Cousins
We had a pretty easy going Halloween.  During the afternoon we went and visited with my grandma for a while then when David got home from work we went Trick-or-Treating to our parent's houses.  Adilynne was really good in her costume.  I thought she wouldn't like it but she seemed to be pretty comfortable in it.  I just can't get over how cute she was in her little duck costume!  I'm glad I found it.  She might just have to dress up in it every once and a while until she grows out of it.  :)

Pumpkin Carving!

Tonight we carved Adilynne's first pumpkin.
Adilynne can sit in her Bumbo chair now!
She didn't like sitting in the pumpkin.  Can't blame her!

3 Months Old

Adilynne is 3 months old!  She is getting so big and learning so much.  I love to watch her as she watches different things closely and tries to figure out what is going on.  She smiles so much now.  It brightens my day to see her smile and be happy.  She is also starting to talk quite a bit to us.  We can sit down on the floor with her and have a "conversation" with her.  She is getting stronger and can hold her head up good by herself now.

Good Morning!

Last week I walked into Adilynne's room in the morning and this is how I found her.  It made me laugh!
She likes to sleep in a Swaddle blanket then I put two blankets over her.  She managed to wiggle one arm out of the Swaddle blanket and got her other shoulder out of her pajamas.
"GOOD MORNING MOM!!!"

Jazz Game!

Saturday night David and I were able to go to a pre-season Jazz game.  A few weeks ago, David's work did a job for the Jazz and instead of being paid, they traded for tickets.  Everyone in the Ogden branch got 2 free Jazz tickets.  They were good seats too...row 25!  We were really excited to go but as the day got closer we starting having a hard time when we thought about leaving Adilynne for a few hours.  We decided it would be good to get out and do something fun so David's mom watched Adilynne for us.  Before we dropped Adilynne off at Grandma's, we ran some errands and went out to eat.  Adilynne was great at the restaurant and just slept peacefully.  After dinner we dropped Adilynne off and headed to the Front Runner station.  We got to the game and after about five minutes we looked at each other and said, "Let's go home!"  We stayed for the whole game but we realized how much our little Adi really has changed our lives.  Instead of being out on a hot date we would rather be home playing with the baby.  Here are the two pictures we took while at the game.

Adilynne's Blessing Day

On Sunday, October 14, 2012 Adilynne was blessed by David.  What a busy day!  I'm glad our church wasn't until 1:00.  It would have been really rough if we would have had the 9:00 time.  We left our house at about 12:35 to go over to the church and save some benches.  I had decided that I would feed Adilynne a bottle when we got there and get her changed into her dress, all before the meeting started at 1:00.  She usually finishes her bottle in about 15-20 minutes but of course, since we needed to hurry, she was eating slow slow slow!  Five minutes before the meeting started I decided we better get her in her dress and then let her finish her bottle.  Even though she had only eaten half of her bottle she was happy.  We were hoping she would stay that way during her blessing but that didn't happen.  As soon as I handed her to David she started crying.  David took her binkie with him but put it in his pocket!  I don't know why he didn't just put it in her mouth since she was already crying.  David had a hard time concentrating during the blessing with Adilynne crying and screaming but he did a great job.  After the meeting our families came over to our house for a little get-to-together.  It was fun to visit with everyone.
