23 Weeks

I am 23 weeks pregnant!  Only 17 more weeks to go.
According to my pregnacy book the baby is about 8 inches long and weighs just over one pound.  During the next few weeks the baby will almost double her weight as she starts to gain fat.  I have started to gain some weight and am having a little bit of a hard time with it.  I know that its healthy and needs to happen for the baby but its just hard to have it happen.  Yesterday I realized that I'm not going to be able to see my feet for too much longer.  I took a picture to remember what they look like.  :)
When I look at myself in a mirror I think my stomach looks huge but when David takes a picture of me and I look at it I look so small still.  David even teases me sometimes that it doesn't even look like I'm pregnant.  I guess its a compliment to be 5 1/2 months pregnant and barely be showing.

Random Things to Remember:
  • The other night I had a dream that I was eating Snickerdoodle cookies and they were warm, and soft and so yummy.  I woke up wanting Snickerdoodle cookies so I made them that day!  I guess that was one of my first cravings.
  • She is pretty active and I feel her kick and punch and move a lot throughout the day and evening.
  • I can feel her move higher up on my abdomen now than when I first felt her move.  She's a growing girl.
  • She really gets active after I eat and after I sneeze.
  • David finally felt her move when I was 22 weeks pregnant, 4 weeks after I felt her for the first time.  Its fun to see him get excited when he feels her.
  • Saturday night I decided to see if I could see her move from the outside yet.  I could feel that she was getting stronger so I sat on the couch for a few minutes and sure enough, when I felt her move I could also see my abdomen move.  David saw it too and thought it was pretty funny.
  • My next baby appointment is Wednesday morning.  I can't wait to see her again in the ultrasound.  I hope she isn't facing backwards and upside down again like last time so we can get a good picture of her face.

A Baby Girl!

WE ARE HAVING A BABY GIRL!
We are so excited to add a cute baby girl to our family.
Here is the ultrasound that shows that she is a girl.  I'm not exactly sure what parts are what in this picture but the ultrasound tech told us a few times during my appointment that she is not afraid to show that she is a girl.
This is one of my favorite ultrasound pictures!  Look at those cute little feet!!!
The hand!
Ultrasound of her profile.  You can see her spine, neck and head.  Look how cute!
Here is a picture of her face.  She is laying with her head down on my bladder and looking towards my back so we weren't able to get a good picture of her face.  Hopefully she will change positions by my next appointment in a month so we can see her face better.
Another picture of her face.
    5 1/2 months pregnant.  19 Weeks.

Random things that I want to remember about this pregnancy so far...
  • I felt her move for the first time about a week ago (18 weeks).  She is very active!  Whenever I sit down to study or work on something quietly she starts kicking and punching.  It's fun to feel her move inside of me.  Definitely not a feeling I could ever describe to anyone.  It is just a neat experience.
  • I've gained 4 pounds during the whole pregnancy so far.  I'm sure the pounds will start coming in the upcoming weeks.
  • I had my blood work done two weeks ago and when my midwife got the results her office called that day.  My Vitamin D levels were really low so I have to take a daily Vitamin D supplement.  Other than that all my blood work results were good.
  • Since the baby is laying right on my bladder I have to go to the bathroom about every hour.  Luckily at night I only have to get up once.
  • The nauseous feeling is gone!  If I let myself get really hungry I do start to feel a little nauseous but thats about the only time.  I just keep snacks with me all the time now.
  • I'm not as tired as I was at the beginning.  I can make it through the day now without a nap but I do sleep for 9-10 hours each night.

Baby Evans

Baby Evans is due July 25, 2012!
David and I are so excited to welcome this precious little one into our lives.  Pregnancy so far hasn't been too bad for me.  Of course there have been days that weren't so great but overall I have no complaints.  I would mostly just get nauseous in the evening so I would just lay on the couch and watch TV or I would go to bed and sleep it off.  Now that I am 14 1/2 weeks along, I have less and less nauseous moments.
We found out I was pregnant on November 22, 2011.  We both had mixed emotions of excitment and thoughts of, "What are we doing!?"  As each week went on we got more and more excited.  I had my first prenatal visit on December 20.  David took the day off of work to come to the appointment with me.  We met my doctor and talked with her for awhile.  We love her.  She is so kind and calming.  We were able to get an ultrasound at that appointment.  At that point I was only 9 weeks along.  My doctor reassured me that there was a baby in there, even though to David and I it just looked like a jelly bean with a heart beat.
We had planned to announce the big news to our families during their Christmas parties.  I had bought picture frame ornaments to put a copy of the ultrasound in and then wrap it up.  I was so excited to give these gifts.
My parents decided to have Christmas Eve dinner and then open gifts that night since Christmas Day would be busy with church and visiting the grandparents.  Here is the picture of my family opening the frame.  It's a little blurry but they were all really excited for us and for their first grandchild.
David's family didn't have their Christmas party and gift exchange until the 28th.  It was hard to keep the secret from them after we had told my family but we did it.  I didn't get a picture of that because I had the camera set on the wrong setting when the frame was being unwrapped.  They were all excited for us also.  This will be grandchild number 8 for David's parents.
My second appointment was this past Friday, January 27, 2012.  David wasn't going to be able to go to this appointment with me due to work but he ended up not feeling well Friday morning so he called in sick so I dragged him along to the appointment.  I was so excited to have another ultrasound and see how the baby has changed in the last 5 weeks.  I don't think my doctor was going to do an ultrasound but I asked her if she would and she was more than willing to do that for us.  We were able to see the head, the spine, the arms, and the legs.  It was so neat.  The baby was holding really still during the ultrasound so my doctor kept moving the ultrasound wand and pushing on my stomach to try and get the baby to move.  Finally the baby started to kick it's legs and move it's arms.  It was like he or she was throwing a tantrum and saying "Leave me alone!"  After that my doctor used the doppler so we could hear the heart beat.  The heart beat was so fast and steady!  That is when it really hit me that there is a real person growing inside of me.
Today in Young Women's after the lesson I announced it to them.  I had decided a couple of weeks ago that I was going to play a game of Hangman with them to announce it.  The phrase that they were guessing letters for was, "I'M HAVING A BABY!"  The girls were so funny.  They had guessed all the letters for BABY but none of them got it.  One of the other leaders said, "Really girls?  You don't know what it is?  Look at the last word."  They still didn't get it so I told them to keep guessing letters.  Finally one of the girls put it all together.  They were all excited then I gave them a pack of Sour Patch Kids to celebrate.
My next appointment is March 1 and we will find out if the baby is a boy or girl.  I'm really excited for that appointment so we can start planning the nursery and everything else.  It's going to be a long month.
Here is my first baby bump picture.  14 1/2 weeks!

Tai Pan

So, I started another new job last week.  I'm getting kind of tired of starting new jobs but it keeps things interesting.  My current job is at Tai Pan as a cashier.  My interview was an interesting experience.  They called me to schedule an interview and luckily my day off of school was the next day.  I went in for the interview and about 5 minutes later they asked me if I could start the next day.  Wow, that was easy!  I was only in the office with the managers for a total of 10-15 minutes and that was mostly just me asking them questions about the job.
I have only worked 3 days so far but I have really enjoyed it.  I worked 11:00-7:30 last Saturday and it was crazy busy ALL day long.  It never slowed down.  I've heard that black Firday is crazy from some of the other cashiers that worked at Tai Pan last holiday season.  I'm not really looking forward to this Friday and Saturday because I have to work 11:00-9:30 both days.  I hope the time goes fast.

Halloween

Growing up my mom always did a Halloween dinner.  She would name everything with creepy or gross names, print out a menu for all of us, and then when it was time to eat we would guess which food was what from the menu.  I loved our Halloween dinner nights but I haven't ever done it for just David and I since we have been married.  This year I was just going to do a simple dinner and not worry about naming everything.  While I was driving home from school today I decided that would be no fun...So I decided to really get into it.  Here is the menu...

Appetizers
Scabs
Body Parts
(Cat Eyes, Heats of Black Cat, Owl Eyes, Witches Toes, and Sliced Albino Snake)

Main Dish
Monster Vomit in a Pumpkin
Skelton Bones covered with Shredded Moon

Beverage
Ghost Blood

Dessert
Crushed Bat with Mud

YUMMMMM!!!  Can you guess what each one is?  Here are some pictures to help you out.

Happy Birthday!

Yesterday was David's 28th Birthday!  He had to work and go to school during the day but we managed to get presents and dinner at Chili's in before he had to go back to school for a study group.  I hope you had a great Birthday Honey Buns!  Love you!!!
